It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Ms Juliette Churchill to the Council of St John’s College. This announcement follows an exhaustive selection process that involved 15 outstanding individuals who applied for the Council position. The high calibre of each applicant made the final decision all the more challenging. We carefully appraised the suitability of all applicants and distilled the list to a final shortlist of four individuals who were interviewed by myself, the Rector and three other Members of Council. Out of these four exceptional applicants, Juliette was selected for the Council position, after receiving huge support from the College Council.
Juliette was educated in the UK where she qualified as an Architect. She has over 30 years of experience in architecture, design, planning and delivery of large-scale property and infrastructure projects both domestically and internationally.
Until 2022, Juliette had spent ten years at the University of Sydney as Director of Design, Engineering, Planning and Sustainability. Advising and leading strategic master planning, feasibility, design, heritage, and project management initiatives for all University assets, Juliette oversaw a portfolio of over 800 buildings across urban and regional NSW. She has had a long history of collaboration with St John’s College, having previously worked with the College in addressing building and master planning challenges and identifying new opportunities – Juliette is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the College’s legacy of sustainability.
Juliette currently holds the position of Executive Director of Property at Macquarie University. In this role she leads the strategic planning and design of all University infrastructure, development of student accommodation, management of assets and facilities, project delivery, as well as security and client services.
Juliette has demonstrated her ongoing passion and commitment to contributing to tertiary education institutions, creating inspiring, safe and best-practice environments that empower our best and brightest in achieving their goals and aspirations.
I eagerly anticipate welcoming Juliette and working closely with her during this exciting time for St John’s College. I also look forward to introducing Juliette to the wider College Community.
