It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr Keith Suter on 10 December 2025.
Dr Keith Suter was a universally respected and influential global futurist and media commentator whose expertise has been called upon in many leadership roles. His career roles included Chairperson of the International Humanitarian Law Committee of Australian Red Cross (NSW), Chairperson of the International Commission of Jurists (NSW), Director of Studies at the International Law Association and Managing Director of the Global Directions think tank. He was a member of the prestigious Club of Rome and the United Nations Association of Australia.
He was born in England in 1948, moving to Australia for his PhD studies in 1973.
Although beset by serious health issues over the past two years, Dr Suter continued to devote his life to the service of mankind. He enjoyed a long and fruitful association with St John’s College and was a Tutor (Government) from 1975 until 1979. More recently, he volunteered regularly as a careers mentor to our students, offering over half a century’s worth of insight and wisdom.
There will be a memorial service in 2026 to celebrate Keith’s life and achievements, details of which will be published in the SMH late January/early February.
