Tarla Lambert (2010 - 2011)

Tarla Lambert has built up a digital news company for women, Agenda Media with a business partner and they plan to expand the business in the Asia Pacific.

Since leaving St John’s, I’ve been able to follow an exciting path in media and ultimately launch Australia’s leading digital news company for women, Agenda Media alongside my business partner, Angela Priestley. Our principal website, Women’s Agenda garners around 350,000 visitors each month, 120,000 followers across social channels and a daily subscriber base of 30,000+. We cover and report on news in politics, business, tech, lifestyle, finance, and health through the lens of smart, progressive women.

Building this business has opened my eyes to the inequities Australian women still routinely face at home, in the workplace and in social/community life. We have a long way to go before we reach a gender level playing field, but I’m glad to be part of something that’s working to hold business and government to account. I have also been fortunate to have landed so many other opportunities through my work in this space, including meeting and working with some of Australia’s most prominent women across industries, speaking at events, and having a regular slot on ABC Breakfast News.

In terms of the future, we have plans to launch the brand in Asia Pacific through Singapore and New Zealand to begin with before building out our networks globally. I’m proud to work with a team of 8 other women who feel equally passionate and motivated by our mission statement.

Since leaving St John’s in 2013, I have also started a family and am mum to a hilarious son called Teddy. My partner George is a teacher and we've left Sydney and purchased a home in Northern NSW. I am still in close touch with several friends who became family at St John’s.
